This beading tutorial for Superduo stocking beaded boxes is detailed and easy to follow. The decorations are a lot of fun to make and will look fabulous on your festive tree. So, let me tell you more about the project…

Materials

You are going to be working with superduos and size 8 seed beads. Each stocking needs about 27g of Superduos. You can choose your colouring. So, as you will see from the photos, I have used both traditional Christmas red, and other gold and red shades. I felt like this would create a bigger variation in colour on my Christmas tree!

You can decide whether or not you wish to add the Christmas presents to the top of your stocking. For these, you will be using basic seed beads in sizes 8 and 11. So, this is a great way to use up odds and ends from your stash.

You will also need your favourite beading thread – I recommend Fireline to get good tension.

The superduo stockings are self-supporting, so you don’t need any stuffing, or anything else.

Experience and Techniques

You will be working in Peyote stitch. I have assumed you already know the basics of this technique. But I have also linked to an online class that you can use to learn anything that is new to you.

This is for intermediate to advanced beaders. There are elements of the project that will require you to use your own initiative.

About this beading tutorial for superduo stocking beaded boxes

This beading tutorial gives you eleven pages of detailed written instructions with photos and diagrams. A confident beader should be able to make one of these superduo stockings in an afternoon.

The finished size is about 3″ long and 1.5″ wide. So, the stockings are big enough to hold a 10g tube of beads… Or any other gift of similar size! You can add the gifts to any stocking, whether or not you decide to make the lid. So, they are a fun, novel gift to give, and a great decoration to enjoy!
