Well, how time flies…! It’s already time to start making plans for International Beading Week 2022. If you’ve celebrated in the past, then you have some idea of the treats in store. If this is new for you, then let’s start with a basic question…
What is International Beading Week?
Since its inception in 2014, beaders around the world have come together each year to celebrate all things beads and beading. The number and scope of events seems to grow bigger and better each year.
You will find everything from free beading projects, to online and in-person classes, competitions, sales… Basically, just about any kind of event you can think of to bring beaders together to share their love of beads and beading.

When is International Beading Week 2022?
This year, the event will be taking place from 23rd July until 31st July. So, that includes two full weekends to allow you to maximise your fun!
My plans for IBW 2022
It just so happens that this year marks the tenth anniversary of two significant events for my beading…
- I published my first book, Sweet Treats (you can find a copy of that here)
- Beading became my only job (I would say full-time, but the impact of ill health meant that a lot of the time my working hours were just part-time. So, really my sole source of income is a better description)
So, it feels like a good idea to celebrate those milestones!
I can’t elaborate on all my plans today… There are still some bits and pieces to fit together… But I can give you some idea of what to expect…

Free beading projects…
No IBW would be complete without some free beading projects. And I’ve got something really special in mind. Obviously, it’s going to have a food theme, in keeping with all my plans for this year.
