This superduo snowman beaded box pattern is simple to follow and perfect for anyone who enjoys working with superduos. The finished box is 4.5″ (12cm) high and just under 2″ (5cm) wide. So, let me tell you a little more about it…

Materials

You will need superduos for this project…obviously! Plus basic rounded seed beads in sizes 11, 8 and 6. The PDF tutorial gives you the exact quantities, and also some ideas for colouring.

As you will see, you can have fun creating snowmen with different hats and scarves. Maybe you even create a snow-woman…after all, this is the twenty-first century!

I have also used different colours of superduos. So, any shades of white or crystal will work well for this project (you’ll need about 50g of superduos).

The superduo snowman beaded box is completely self-supporting. So, that means you are going to need excellent tension as you work. I strongly recommend using Fireline beading thread, although you are welcome to try other threads. Just bear in mind, if your snowman is a little floppy, it could be because of your choice of thread. So, you can always try switching to a different thread to see if that solves the problem.

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be working entirely in Peyote stitch. So, you should be familiar with the following variations:

  • circular
  • tubular
  • making increases
  • making decreases
  • even count

I have included diagrams to remind you of thread paths. The PDF tutorial also links to an online beading class that you can use if you need to learn any basic techniques. So, this is suitable for anyone who enjoys Peyote stitch and is happy following written instructions.

About the superduo snowman beaded box

As I mentioned at the beginning, this beaded box is 12cm high and 5cm wide. So, it will comfortably store a small candy (or two!), or a 10g tube of beads, or a rolled up banknote, or whatever other gift you can think of!

Your snowman should stand unsupported, so will make a really cute beaded Christmas decoration. And, since these are fairly quick to make, you may even wish to make a complete family!

These snowmen also pair very well with my superduo gnomes and superduo penguins.

  1. Beautiful design and great instructions. Very detailed.

  2. The beaded snowman is so cute when made up. The instructions are clear, easy to follow and there are opportunities to customise him. Really enjoyed beading him.
