Description
This beading tutorial will teach you how to combine a very basic bead-weaving technique with cutting edge Faralli and Menites Cymbal Elements to create a pair of statement earrings. Earring width is 1.5” (3.5cm) and drop from ear-piercing to bottom is 3.25” (8cm). So, let me tell you a little more about the project.
Materials
You are going to be using basic seed beads and combining them with the Cymbal elements. So, here is a list of the materials you will need:
- Size 11 Miyuki rounded seed beads
- Size 8 Miyuki rounded seed beads
- 2.5x5mm Superduos
- Dagger Beads 5/16mm
- Cymbal Elements™ Menites Superduo endings in antique silver
- Cymbal Elements™ Farali III Superduo earring posts in antique silver
- 5mm jump rings in silver
- Beading thread
The tutorial does give you the colours that I actually used. But you are also very welcome to change colours to something that suits your tastes if you prefer. The Cymbal Elements all come in a variety of metal finishes. So, if you’re not a ‘silver person’, you can change up the metal as well.
Experience and Techniques
This is an intermediate level project. You will be working in tubular Herringbone and basic bead-weaving. I have assumed you are already familiar with these techniques. But if that is not the case, the tutorial also includes a link to an online class that will teach you the basics. The class includes video demonstrations to help you learn.
About the Menites Cymbal Elements Earrings
I confess, I love the Cymbal elements range. I’m not sure if you will have had the opportunity to try any of them yet. But they are a very elegant solution for adding interest to your designs, and also linking beads and findings.
The Menites Cymbal Elements are basically a special earring finding that is designed to link with Superduo beads. So, you immediately get a very professional look to your jewellery. The link between beads and finding is also incredibly secure.
I am often asked how to attach clasps and other findings neatly. Well, Cymbal Elements are an excellent solution.
So, I designed and made these earrings for the Beadsmith company, as part of my work with the Beadsmith Inspiration Squad. They incorporate not one, but two Cymbal Elements to create a very stylish look. So, I hope you enjoy learning how to make these.
