Description
This beaded picture frame is perfect for displaying miniature beaded tapestries. You can switch the picture whenever you wish. And if you don’t want to include a beaded picture, you can also use this to display any photo. So, let me tell you more about the project.
Materials
You simply need size 11 delicas and 4mm pearls to make your beaded picture frame.
Now, this leaves you with a lot of options in terms of colouring. I chose to make my first frame in gold, but literally any colour will work. Once you have understood the technique, you might even want to include a subtle pattern around the frame, by mixing in shades of a colour. So, you have lots of options.
You will also need your favourite beading thread. I used Fireline. However, you can use any thread that will give you good tension. So, choose whatever you enjoy working with.
Experience and Techniques
This is a Peyote stitch project. It is suitable for intermediate to advanced beaders. You will be using the following Peyote variations:
- tubular and circular
- making increases
- zipping up
- stitch-in-the-ditch
The tutorial includes photos and diagrams alongside the written instructions. But this does rely heavily on you already having a good understanding of Peyote stitch and being able to follow written instructions.
I have also linked to an online class that demonstrates all the basic techniques. So, you can access that if you find you need any additional support.
About the beaded picture frame
The completed size of the beaded picture frame is 2.5″ high and 2″ wide. It is designed to hold the miniature pictures that I sell on the Beadflowers website and in my Etsy store. These are the same as the side panels for my beaded lantern with interchangeable sides. So, if you wish to get started with one of my pictures, you can use this link to view them all.
The tutorial also includes blank graph paper and instructions for designing your own pictures. So, you can fill your frames with whatever you wish!
Once completed, these little picture frames look great hung on a wall, or you can also use them as decorations. Add a festive picture and you have a cute tree decoration, as shown in the gallery images here. Or, switch in a Halloween scene and create a spooky feel!
I love how fast you’re able to download the files, and her selection is amazing!
A fun and fairly easy project. I am going to make more for Christmas gifts.
