You can make this rose beaded box in any colouring, to suit any occasion. So, maybe it’s a Valentine’s gift in red. Or, perhaps you celebrate an engagement with a silver rose. Try white for friendship, or any colour you like, just because you like it!

Materials

I made my rose beaded box entirely from size 11 Delicas. You will need about 5g in green and 15g in your flower colour. The finished size is about 2″ (5cm) by 2″ (5cm).

If my other beaded box patterns have converted you to falling in love with size 10 Delicas, then this should work in that size too. Obviously, it will come out bigger!

I don’t recommend using regular seed beads for this. I have found that they don’t create quite the same strength as Delicas, or AIKO beads (if you want another brand). Plus, the regular seed beads don’t slot together as neatly, so this can make it trickier to see where your beads are sitting. Which, in turn, makes it harder to add the beads in the correct position.

I used Fireline thread because that is my personal preference for getting firm tension. But everyone has different preferences when it comes to beading thread. So, just use whatever works best for you.

If you need any materials, I sell everything you need for the rose beaded box in my beading supplies department>>

Experience and Techniques

I made the rose beaded box using Peyote stitch. I have also used a little bit of basic brick stitch. This is a reasonably tricky little box, so I recommend it for confident beaders.

I have assumed that you already have some beading experience. Although, I do include lots of detailed diagrams to illustrate thread paths and photos to show how the box develops. And if you need some extra help, I also have free tutorials that you can download from this website. These cover basic techniques if you need to learn something or remind yourself of a technique.

About the Rose Beaded Box

I developed this design with Valentine’s day in mind. So, I decided to make a red rose. This will hold a little gift for a loved one. Then, the box is a permanent reminder of the occasion.

However, as I said at the beginning, the rose can be a symbol for many different occasions. It celebrates love in all forms. So, really this is a perfect gift box for anyone you love, at any time of year.
