Simple Quadra Tiles Pendant
I created this little quadra tiles pendant as I was in need of a piece of jewellery to match an outfit – in a hurry! The pendant needed to be orange. So I hunted through my stash for all my orange beads and ended up creating this design.
It is a project that can be completed in under an hour, although be patient with yourself if you are a beginner. You may find it takes a little longer if you are just starting to work with quadra tiles.
Materials and techniques
The thread path is very simple. You will be building the beads row by row around the outside of two Dome beads.
I finished the design by adding a simple odd count Peyote bail. But you can create a bail using your favourite beading technique, or even attach a shop-bought bail if you prefer.
I have written the instructions with clear step-by-step diagrams. So, this a project that is accessible for all levels. You will be working with two varieties of beads that contain multiple holes: quadra tiles and twin hole beads. Although I elected to use Twin holes rather than Superduos, this is the type of project for which you should be able to make a substitution between the two types of bead.
I elected to use a single colour, working with different shades in all the different beads. You could equally use a mix of different colours. This would be a great way to practise working with colour theory and is very handy if you are trying to use up a few odd beads. The Dome beads will form the largest single area of unbroken colour. So think carefully about whether to draw the eye into this area of the pendant, using a very bold colour, or to draw the eye outwards by surrounding a duller coloured Dome bead with very bright Twin holes and Quadra Tiles.
This is an easy project for getting the tension to work well. But as with any other project that uses multiple holed beads, remember to check all the holes on each bead before you use it.
