Description
This GemDuo bracelet makes use of shading or contrasting colours to create a Harlequin pattern. I added a custom beaded clasp to complete the design.
Materials
You just need three types of bead for this GemDuo bracelet. I sell all of them in the beading supplies here. So, you should get:
- GemDuos in two colours
- True2 Beads
- Size 11 Matsuno seed beads
- Your choice of beading thread
You might like to choose two shades as I did. Or, this design will look stunning in contrasting colours. The True2 beads just add a touch of sparkle.
Techniques and Experience
The GemDuo bracelet uses basic Peyote stitch and basic Square stitch. The techniques may feel a little different with the GemDuo beads, but I have included very clear instructions. So, each step is accompanied by a detailed diagram.
I have also added some advice about using GemDuos if you are new to these beads. So, I suggest that as long as you are happy with basic beading, you should be able to complete this bracelet.
The GemDuo Bracelet Harlequin Design
I created this GemDuo bracelet as part of my work for the Beadsmith Inspiration Squad. The GemDuo beads are lovely to work with. Their raised front lends a natural texture to any beading project.
I decided to put the True2 beads to good use. I think they are perfect for adding some subtle sparkle. So, if you are choosing a different colour scheme to me, try to pick a sparkly True2…unless you’re already using the backlit GemDuos!
As with many of my designs, I wanted to add a beaded clasp. So, I have created something that perfectly complements the main bracelet design. It is basically a toggle clasp. So, it is very easy to fasten and will stay secure.
Don’t forget, if you need some extra help with the basic techniques, you can also download free tutorials from me. So, grab a copy of the pattern, pick up your beads and off you go…have some fun!
