This beaded bead wooden bead is a great stash-busting project. So, read on to find out why!

Materials

To make this beaded bead wooden bead, you will need the following:

  • Size 11 Miyuki seed beads in four colours – only a few of each
  • A 20mm wooden bead
  • Your choice of beading thread

I have all these materials available in my beading supplies department. But this is also a great project for using up odd beads left in tubes.

However, I do have one word of warning for you. This beaded bead is created by making a casing to fit over the wooden bead. The casing needs to fit well. So, I strongly recommend that you make sure to use Miyuki brand seed beads for this (and NOT delicas). If you think I’m just being fussy here, then take a look at this blog>>

If you didn’t already realise, then that makes it very clear: different brands of seed beads vary slightly in size. So, a size 11 Miyuki is not quite identical to a size 11 Toho, for example. Now, I simply haven’t tried this design with a different brand of seed bead. It might work perfectly well, but it might not. So, this is just me covering myself. Or, in other words, explaining to you why your project isn’t turning out like mine (if that’s the case!)

But, I also invite you to experiment. If you are willing to try this with another brand of bead, then please come back and leave a review to let me and others know how it worked out.

Experience and Techniques

Your beaded bead wooden bead is made using Peyote stitch. I have assumed that you already know how to make an increase, a step up and that you have done some circular or tubular Peyote before.

If that isn’t the case, then you might also like to download this free tutorial. It will guide you through the basics in more detail.

This project is for anyone who enjoys Peyote stitch – or wants to learn it.

About the Beaded Bead Wooden Bead Pattern

This style of beaded bead is quite traditional. It is also fun to make and actually looks pretty stunning. I’ve done all the hard work for you in calculating the size of casing that will fit.

So, I also included a blank pattern chart to the right size. This means you can design your own patterns if you want to.

I have included lots of diagrams to illustrate the steps, so this pattern should be easy to follow.

Your finished beaded bead measures about 1″ (2.5cm) in diameter. It takes about an hour to make.
