Description
This French beaded Edelweiss pattern shows you how to make a single flower. You can make several to display in a vase. Or, create a pot plant with them.
Materials
The French beaded Edelweiss uses the following materials:
- Size 11 seed beads in white and green
- 3mm round or firepolish beads
- 4mm pearl
- 0.5mm (24ga) wire in white and green
- Floral stem tape
- Embroidery silk

As with any French beading project, you will need a pair of wire cutters. I also recommend that you use a bead spinner. Although this is optional if you prefer to thread your beads by hand.
Experience and Techniques
This is a great project for someone new to French beading. You are just going to be using the single loop technique. But you will learn how to shape your loops to create the look of the Edelweiss flower.

About the French Beaded Edelweiss Pattern
This is an early French beading design, dating back to 2004. Back then I focused almost exclusively on French beading and I tried to design as many different flowers as possible. I am still trying to write up all my patterns 14 years on!!
I have travelled a little in Switzerland and Austria, visiting the beautiful Alps. In both countries, the Edelweiss is something of a national symbol. These distinctive white flowers even made it into the Sound of Music! I love them and so I decided to try creating a French beaded version. So, I hope you like it.
