Description
Christmas Bauble Beading Pattern to make a Christmas Bauble decorated with herringbone technique in the style of a Christmas gift. This pattern is suitable for all levels and provides a good introduction to herringbone stitch.
I originally conceived this pattern at the request of some of my regular beading ladies who wanted to learn Herringbone stitch. I designed this Christmas bauble to look like a gift wrapped parcel.
The pattern uses a few little tricks to help you master Herringbone stitch. It starts with the easier section to work around the bauble. Clever use of colour makes it easy to understand the stitch. You will also be working from a base that saves the usual problems of starting out with a fiddly ladder stitch or the even trickier herringbone base row! Once you have become confident in your skills, finish the bauble with a flourishing bow. This is a little more fiddly as you will be working on the bauble, but you should feel confident enough with the herringbone to master this with ease.
The pattern is written with clear instructions accompanied by step-by-step diagrams. I have also included photos to illustrate the Christmas Bauble from different angles.
The design story behind the Christmas bauble beading pattern
Christmas Bauble patterns have been popular in the beading world for a while. There are now a huge range of designs from which to choose. So, it is a race amongst designers to try and find something a little bit different each year!
I wanted to develop a Christmas Bauble beading pattern that went beyond netting techniques. As you may know, I like creating designs that are ‘actual things’. So, I spent a while thinking about what a bauble could be used for. It then occurred to me that such a pretty, shiny decoration just needed a gift-wrap to finish it… And so this Christmas Bauble beading pattern was born. I hope you enjoy it!
