I designed my little beaded bee pattern at the request of a customer who wanted a tiny bee to include in a wedding bouquet.
The beaded bee pattern uses circular and tubular Peyote stitch. I have included very detailed instructions. You are going to need to make increases and decreases. So, if you need help with this, I also have a free tutorial you can download.
Materials and Experience
You will be working with size 15 seed beads which are very small if you are a beginner. This creates a bee that measures a little under an inch (2.5cm).
However, you can easily make a larger bee by simply using larger beads. So, if you are newer to beading you will certainly be able to use this pattern. Just start out working with size 11 or even size 8 beads and also increase the size of the faceted bead recommended. The larger seed beads will also need larger teardrops for the wings.
More Ideas for the beaded bee pattern
As I mentioned, I designed the beaded bee pattern to be included in a bouquet. It also looks great in a vase of flowers – either fresh or beaded. To make this possible, the pattern includes a stem for the bee. For this I used green floristry wire. This blends into the flower arrangement. However, if you do not want to include the stem, the pattern also offers help for making the bee on its own. This is very simple.
