This Superduo Duets Peyote pattern will create a necklace and/or a bracelet. So, read on to find out how this works…

Materials

You will need the following materials for your Superduo Duets peyote jewellery:

  • Superduo Duets
  • Superduos
  • Size 11 Miyuki seed beads
  • Your choice of beading thread

I designed this project with a beaded clasp, but you can use a shop-bought clasp if you wish. I have included instructions for doing that.

If you’ve never used Superduo Duets before, they are great fun. The shading on the beads allows you to make simple designs look complex and interesting. So, if you want to find out more about how that works, check out this blog>>

You can buy all the materials for this project from my beading supplies department on this website. I designed the necklace with budget in mind. So, you won’t need hundreds of beads for this!

Experience and Techniques

This is an intermediate level project. You will be using quite simple thread paths, but the Duets can make things more confusing when you first start. So, don’t be surprised if it takes you a few minutes to get used to using these beads.

For the main section, you are going to be working in simple Peyote.

The beaded clasp uses a combination of basic bead weaving techniques. I have explained them all in the instructions, illustrating everything with diagrams. And, I have included links to free tutorials for additional help.

About the Superduo Duets Peyote necklace

I love the way the shading on the duets works in Peyote stitch. So, I wanted to use that idea for a necklace. But, this creates a fabric that won’t bend. So, the only way to create the curvature to sit around the neck was to add ‘hinges’. These take the form of clasps, so they also have a functional as well as decorative purpose.

Naturally, one single strand will be perfect for a bracelet – it doesn’t need to curve sideways! So, your pattern gives you the instructions for making both pieces of jewellery.
