About the Chilli Beads Components Bracelet
I enjoy making components as they are a quick way to experiment with a new type of bead. The Chilli Beads Components bracelet emerged from one such experiment.
Quite often, we work with round components as this creates a distinct shape that can be developed in different ways. I wanted to see what would happen if I started with a circle of Chilli beads. Then, just let the beads guide me from there.
As with any design experiment, there were plenty of changes of direction and ripping out beads along the way. But I eventually stumbled upon these Chilli Beads components and I liked the way they looked. The means of joining them is automatically incorporated into the design. The lovely thing about working with components is that if you find something that works, you can then develop it into a larger project. So, that’s what I did with this bracelet.
Helpful information
You will make each of the Chilli beads components separately. This uses some basic bead stringing. So, you will already be familiar with this type of technique if you have already worked with shaped or multi-holed seed beads. Although you are ‘just stringing’, you will want to develop good tension so that the components sit well.
The bracelet is mainly comprised of the Chilli beads, but you can mix up colours. So if you have a few odd packs to use up, you could use a different colour for each of your Chilli Beads Components and create a colourful rainbow effect.
You need just a few Superduos, so this is a great way to use up the real leftovers from a pack. I found Superduos to tone with my Chilli beads, but contrasting colours also work well. Or why not match the Superduos to your seed beads? Choose a more neutral colour and then let the Chilli beads really ‘pop’. There is plenty of scope.
You may find this blog about Chilli beads helpful if you have never used them before, but they are lovely to work with. So, I have also included some more patterns below to let you try a few new ideas.
