This tartan flowers bracelet pattern originally appeared in Beadwork magazine, June/July 2018. I am publishing my own version of the pattern here for you. So, keep on reading to find out what you will need for this project.
Materials
You will need the following materials for the tartan flowers bracelet:
- Size 11 seed beads
- Forget-me-not beads
- 8mm pearls
- Magnetic clasp
- Your choice of beading thread
You can check out my beading supplies department for all these materials. The beading pattern will give you details of the actual colours that I used. I have also included a guide to creating your own colour scheme. So, if my choices don’t suit you, it’s easy to change them!
Experience and Techniques
The tartan flowers bracelet is an intermediate level project. So, I have assumed that you are already familiar with the basic techniques. These are odd count Peyote and circular brick stitch.
If you need any extra help, you can download free tutorials from this website.
I have written the pattern with detailed text and diagrams to illustrate all the steps. So, even if you are improving in these techniques, you should be able to give this project a go.
About the Tartan Flowers Bracelet
My tartan flowers bracelet design actually dates back a couple of years. I had a severe ME relapse in 2016 and spent many months unable to do much at all. So, for a long time, I was largely bed-bound, but I did manage to get up for a short while in the middle of the day.
I sometimes used to watch a little TV and one of the programmes I watched was ‘Countdown’. Now, one of the presenters on that, Rachel Riley, always wears the most lovely clothes (I think! – they’re my taste anyway). One day she was wearing a dress that I loved and this design popped into my head.
I didn’t have the energy to bead it for a few months, but when I did, I was thrilled with the results. So, I thought I would try my luck submitting it to Beadwork magazine. To my surprise and joy, the editors accepted the design.
So, the tartan flowers bracelet is quite personal and special to me. Each time I wear mine, I reflect on the journey it symbolises. I hope you will make a version that becomes special to you too.
