Heart Bracelet Pattern
I designed this pattern after Steven Weiss of the Beadsmith asked if I would like to have a play with some Duracoat delica beads to test their design potential. Delica beads are not new to the market, but the Duracoat finish is. It gives a metallic looking finish that really stays.
The first Duracoat colours of which I was aware were the gold and silver base metals. But now there is a much larger array of colours.
Like many others, I have always had a problem with metal beads that lose their metallic look. Or some discolour as they come into contact with skin oils. I find the Duracoat finish overcomes this problem. So, I love using them!
I was inspired by the colours of the Duracoats as I made this heart bracelet pattern. The gorgeous bright pink provides a great foil for the silver. Then, the colouring immediately made me think of hearts.
I have played with heart designs in Peyote stitch. So, I wanted to try something in brick stitch for this pattern.
I also adapted an older design for a herringbone heart to create a beaded clasp that would create the perfect finish for the bracelet.
Techniques and Materials
In the heart bracelet pattern you will learn how to move seamlessly from basic even count Peyote stitch into a herringbone base. Then from here into brick stitch.
You will also be using brick stitch shaping. So, if you want more of a guide to that, you can find a free tutorial here.
You will make the heart toggle separately, using Herringbone with mixed bead sizes. Then attach this clasp at the end.
The Heart bracelet pattern includes a mix of step-by-step diagrams and photos to guide you through the instructions. This uses fairly basic techniques, so even if you are not terribly experienced, this is a project that you can still enjoy.
