Description
This Halloween cake is a pattern that I developed as I was writing my book, ‘Beaded Cakes in Miniature‘. I wanted to develop as many cakes as possible for different occasions. Then I wasn’t sure whether the Halloween Cake should be included in the book. So I actually used it as an example to illustrate the chapter focusing on how to design cakes.
As I was showing the actual samples at bead fairs and workshops, my Halloween cake proved to be very popular. So I decided to write the pattern up properly and use it as an ‘extra’ to the book.
About the Halloween cake pattern
This Halloween cake pattern gives five pages of instructions for decorating a miniature beaded cake in a Halloween theme. You will need a copy of my book, ‘Beaded Cakes in Miniature‘ in order to make the cake. The instructions in this pattern are for the decorations only. You will be using Peyote stitch – odd count, circular and tubular and some freeform beading.
Then, you will need size 15 beads in orange and black and also size 11 seed beads in the same shade of orange. These are for the decoration. This is suitable for intermediate beaders as some of the work with the tiny seed beads is a little fiddly.
If you are looking for a beaded pumpkin pattern, then you could use this pattern without the cake. I made the central pumpkin in size 15 seed beads to create a size that would fit on top of a cake. But you can easily scale it up using larger seed beads.
If you are interested making beaded Halloween decorations, I have also designed a beaded Halloween bauble which you can find here. I hope to be developing more Halloween inspired beadwork in the future. So do keep checking back here. You can find new items on this page.
