Description
This miniature beaded Yule log is a couple of inches long. It’s a fun little Festive project. The pattern is available exclusively in my book, ‘Sweet Treats‘. But let me tell you a little more about it!
Materials
Your beaded Yule log uses size 11 Delicas. So, you probably have these beads in your stash already.
One of the challenges of creating the projects for Sweet Treats book was in finding the right shades of colour for the different cakes and sweets. So, I have listed the exact colouring that I used for each pattern. Of course, you are welcome to find your own variations if you wish!
You will also need your favourite beading thread and some card and material to complete the cake board.
Experience and Techniques
You will be working entirely in Peyote stitch. This project will teach you how to add a pattern into a piece of circular Peyote. So, you should feel comfortable with circular and tubular Peyote, increasing and zipping together.
The book includes a chapter teaching you the basic techniques. Plus, you can find more information about Peyote stitch at this link>>
This project is suitable for intermediate to advanced beaders.
About the beaded Yule Log
As I mentioned at the beginning, this was one of the projects I created for Sweet Treats book. I wanted to explore the idea of creating food using a pattern within the beadwork. So, that is a skill you will be learning and it’s fantastically useful for all kinds of other beadwork.
Made with size 11 Delicas, this is a really cute little Christmas decoration. If you want to make a slightly larger version, then you can upgrade to size 10 Delicas. Your Yule Log will end up abut 50% bigger without changing anything in the pattern.
And remember, this is just one of over 15 fabulous ‘sweet’ themed projects you get in the book.
