Using Swarovski Montees

If you are not familiar with these beads, Swarovski Montees are basically tiny Swarovski crystals that have been mounted into a metal base. The base has a criss-cross hole structure which allows for some interesting thread paths and also creates a very secure fastening. Swarovski Montees add some really chic sparkle to a project.

About the pattern

For this bracelet design, I wanted to complement the square shape of the Swarovski Montees. I was also interested in making them the ‘star’ of the project. So, I set them against beads with a Duracoat metallic finish that is very durable.

The criss cross thread path also made them perfect for mounting on Quadra Tile beads. So this was another big idea with which I was keen to experiment. I completed the bracelet with a square shaped beaded clasp. You can adjust the bracelet length to fit any size of wrist.

You get a good quantity of Swarovski Montees in a pack, but of course they use Swarovski crystal. So they are not the cheapest of materials. Therefore I created the design so that it can be made with the same number of Montees for any wrist size. That means you know how much you will be spending! Then, just use the clasp design to adjust to fit your wrist… Or if you prefer, you can just splash out on more Montees for added sparkle and a larger size!

You are going to be working in Peyote stitch and also basic herringbone. I have included detailed instructions. But I also have some free tutorials to download from this website to help you out. This pattern is suitable for intermediate level or above. The techniques are not too challenging, but it does require some skill and good tension to ensure that the bracelet design sits as it is intended. The end result is a sparkly, classy bracelet that is fabulous for a special evening out.
