Description
The finished daisy keyring measures just over 2″ (5cm) across. I actually designed it after creating a similar project for the Beadworkers Guild. So, keep reading to find out how it evolved.
Materials
You will need a 30mm wooden bead and size 11 seed beads. Plus your choice of beading thread. So, you can check out my beading supplies for all these materials.
I don’t know how you think of daisies. Do you just think of the little white flowers? Or do you also think of Michaelmas daisies? I tried to think about both when I chose colours for my samples. So, you might like to do the same. You will need a green base, but you can use any colour for your centre and petals.
Experience and Techniques
In the daisy keyring pattern, I will show you how to bead over the wooden bead, using Peyote stitch. You are also going to use the very simple brick stitch basic. Then, the rest just needs loops.
So, the pattern instructions do assume you have done a bit of beading before. Which is why I have labelled this as an intermediate project. However, I also have lots of free tutorials that you can use to learn the basics. So, if you are new to beading and like this idea, then give it a try. Just use the free technique sheets to supplement the pattern where you need to.
About the Daisy Keyring
I designed the daisy keyring as I was in a phase working on beading over wooden beads. So, this proved to be a pattern to test how to bead over a 30mm bead. I then wondered how to develop it further…
I had recently complete my sunflower beaded beads for the Beadworker’s Guild. So, it didn’t take a great leap of imagination to try other flowers. The daisy sprang to mind immediately.
