This Storm Duo bead necklace tutorial is a great place to start if you are wanting to try these beads.
The Storm Duo ‘Fire’ necklace uses the following materials:
- Storm Duo beads
- Iris Duo beads
- 4mm pearls
- Size 11 Miyuki seed beads
- Your choice of clasp
- Your choice of thread
If you haven’t come across them before, both the Storm Duo and Iris Duo beads are exclusive to the Potomac bead company. They are both shaped two-holed seed beads. And they happen to dovetail extremely well together! So, this is a great project for getting to know some new bead shapes.
Experience and Techniques
I suggest that this project is best for intermediate beaders.
You are going to be using basic thread paths to make the pendant section and add the side embellishment. I used a spiral rope for the necklace. Then, you will need a tiny bit of basic herringbone to attach the clasp section.
About the Storm Duo Bead Necklace Tutorial
The Storm Duo bead necklace tutorial is comprehensive. I have included a full page of instructions showing you how to use the Storm Duo and Iris Duo beads. Every step is written out and also illustrated with diagrams. Then, I have added some detailed photos to show some of the elements of the necklace.
So, if you’re happy to try something new, I have guided you through carefully in these eight pages of instructions.
From time to time, I do a little design work with the Potomac company, so I get the chance to try out some of the new beads. This necklace design is one of those ‘experiments’. I simply wanted to see how the two-holed beads would work together. But I was also keen to include a lot of familiar seed bead work too.
So, if you’re thinking about making a step into the world of multi-holed beads, this project won’t take you too far away from your basic seed beading!
