The Triangular Disc Necklace is the perfect project if you are new to wirework or wanting a bit of practise at wire wrapped loops. You will be using this technique to create the components. These are then linked together to form the necklace design.

The project mixes disc beads with pearls. It includes supplier information as well as five pages of step by step illustrated instructions.

Materials for the Triangular Disc Necklace

I used two types of beads for the Triangular Disc Necklace design. The focal disc beads are 19mm in diameter. These are glass beads with a pattern. They are commonly available in bead shops. Sometimes they may be listed as glass beads, or sometimes as Venetian beads. I also have a small selection of the Millefiori patterned disc beads in the beading supplies.

If by any chance you have trouble finding these beads, you can substitute them. You should stick to about 19mm in size. However, this will work just as well with round beads, or large cube beads. So, you can personalise your design in this way.

The remaining beads are all pearls. I chose two different sizes so that I could create some interest in the design. You should try to pick your focal beads first. Then, choose pearls in colours that match the focal beads. You can find more ideas about colouring here.

You will be stringing everything onto headpins or eyepins (both are used in this project), then creating wire loops. The design is assembled using jump rings. All these materials are available in just about any bead or craft shop. So, you will be able to find them in your local store.

Lastly, you will need a clasp of your choice. Again, this will be available in your local store. You will be using round nose pliers and wire cutters for this Triangular Disc Necklace.

What experience do I need?

The project instructions are comprehensive. I wrote them for complete beginners. So, they will show you step-by-step, with pictures and description, how to make the wire wrapped loops. I also show you how to open and close jump rings. These are both very basic jewellery making skills. So, once you have made the Triangular Disc Necklace, you will be well equipped to make other jewellery.
