You can make a toadstool charm in any size you want. So, maybe that’s a tiny charm to use on a bracelet, or as earrings. Alternatively, go a little larger and attach it to a keyring.

Materials

You simply need seed beads in red and white. I don’t recommend using Delicas for this project because they will give the toadstool a very angular feel. So try and stick to the Czech or Japanese seed bead brands. If you don’t know the difference, then check out this blog.

Then, you will also need some beading thread. So, just use your favourite.

If you need any supplies, remember to check out my beading supplies right here.

Experience and Techniques

You will use circular and tubular Peyote stitch to make your toadstool charm. I have assumed that you already know the Peyote basics. However, if that is not the case, don’t worry… I have a free tutorial covering this. So, just download that and learn what you don’t already know. It’s also great if you need a little reminder of what to do!

About the Toadstool Charm

So, I began by suggesting that you could make different sized charms. My little sample is made with size 11 seed beads and it measures about 1.5″ (3cm). So, perhaps if you like large earrings, that would work for you. Personally, I prefer teeny-tiny things. If you are like me, then try scaling down to size 15 seed beads. The toadstool charm made in this size is simply adorable!

If you are taking the plunge and trying this pattern as you are just starting to bead, that’s great. Start out by using size 8 seed beads. Then you can really see what you’re doing and how the thread paths will work.

So, what will you do with your toadstool charms? Maybe hang them on a bracelet with little pixies or fairies? Just let your imagination run away with you!
