About the Honeycomb Beaded Beads
A lot of beaded beads are really quite small, but these honeycomb beaded beads are more of a statement.
I came up with the design when I found I had a few honeycomb beads left after making some larger projects. I love their shape and texture (this would look great with honeycomb jewels by the way!) and I know they combine well with other shaped seed beads. So this design was born fairly quickly.
I had been starting a personal Kumihimo journey at the time. So I found this beaded bead made a perfect pendant on its own on a basic 8-braid Kumihimo rope.
Of course, I can also see that lots of Honeycomb beaded beads strung with smaller spacer beads, would make a fabulous rope. I can see this combined with wooden beads for a natural look – great beachwear. Or in bright colours over a summer top.
What about using some silver-lined or sparkly finished beads to give it some glitz and glamour for the evening?
Materials and Techniques
As you see, the Honeycomb beaded beads are a really versatile design. The best bit is, they take just a few minutes to make. (Especially once you have done one and got familiar with the thread paths and tension you need).
Aside from the handful of Honeycomb beads, you will need Superduos. Or why not try Superduo Duets? Plus, some O beads and just a few size 11 seed beads.
The beaded bead is self-supporting, so you will find that tension is critical. If you tend to have a loose tension, then make sure you really pull all your threads tight. Go round each row twice if it helps.
