Peyote stitch bracelet pattern to make a bracelet designed with beaded dice and a playing card. I based this design on my Battle of the Beadsmith entry in 2013, High Stakes.
Now, I actually designed this at the request of Chloe Menage, then editor of Bead Magazine, as a commission to be published in the magazine. Chloe had seen my battle entry and loved the dice and playing card elements. So I adapted this part of my design to create this peyote stitch bracelet.
About the Peyote stitch bracelet
This project needs size 11 delica beads. The very regular nature of the dice shape and the pattern on the playing card will only really work with these regular beads.
You will also need a magnetic clasp. I recommend the Mag-Lok brand as I have found these to be incredibly secure. I concealed the clasp underneath the playing card, so this design appears to be seamless.
You will also need some little dice beads for this project. I have found these in different shops – some are side drilled and some drilled from corner to corner. It doesn’t really matter which you choose, so you can exercise some poetic license here.
Finally, you will need crystal bicones for the bracelet strap. Again, I believe I used Swarovski as I love their quality. But you can choose a different brand if you want to save on cost.
This peyote stitch bracelet pattern is really suitable for intermediate beaders. You will be required to follow a peyote stitch pattern to create the playing card. If this sounds like your worst nightmare, you will be pleased to hear it can be beaded in brick stitch. Typically brick stitch patterns are easier to read as you are looking along straight rows, whereas the row structure of peyote stitch makes it trickier to read.
