Description
This Cellini spiral bangle design is lovely to wear and fun to make. The pattern gives you a couple of variations. So, you can make this as a bracelet if you’re not a fan of bangles.
Materials
For your bangles, you will need the following materials:
- Seed beads in size 11
- Seed beads in size 8
- 4mm pearls or firepolished or size 6 seed beads
- Your choice of beading thread
- (Optional) magnetic clasp, if you want to make a bracelet
You probably have most of these in your stash already. But if you want to try some new colours, check out my beading supplies.
Techniques and Experience
Cellini spiral is basically a variation of tubular Peyote stitch. The spiral is created by mixing together beads in different sizes. You need really good tension to create this effect.
I’ll give you a few more tips below…
This Cellini Spiral Bangle pattern includes instructions for two alternative finishes. If you like a beaded bangle, I have assumed knowledge of ‘zipping up’. So, you can just turn your tube into a bangle.
I know that not everyone is a fan of bangles. So, I also developed a way to fasten this with a magnetic clasp. I have cleverly concealed the clasp, so you still get the effect of a bangle.
You can make this project in under two hours and is very simple. Suitable for all levels. However, I strongly recommend that you are happy with basic tubular Peyote before you try the Cellini spiral. If you need a technique reminder, check out my free tutorials on here.
About the Cellini Spiral Bangle Design
If you know anything about Cellini spiral, you will know it has many variations. So, this design is a basic. It uses a minimal number of bead types.
Now, Cellini spiral can be complicated to look at when you first start. So, I have designed these bangles using strongly contrasting colours. This helps you to identify the different beads at a glance.
It also means you can spend the summer with a colourful arm of Cellini Spiral Bangles! If you need some ideas for colour combinations, then check out this blog. Or, you can just make bangles to match your wardrobe.
