The Paris Bead Embroidery cuff is inspired by the focal cabochon at its centre. I bought this from Dizzy Beads at a time when I was planning some projects for Bead and Jewellery Magazine.

I had an issue inspired by Romance and Passion. So, this Paris Cabochon seemed like a perfect starting point. Can you think of a more romantic or passionate destination than Paris?

I then took the colouring from the theme and also the Cabochon. Since I wanted to get a little romance into the design, I included some heart shaped beads.

I have really fallen in love with Bead Embroidery. So, I think you will too. As you are about to find out, the techniques are accessible for anyone and the materials are affordable. So, I hope you will enjoy making your own version of my Paris Bead Embroidery Cuff.

What materials will I need for the Paris bead embroidery cuff?

I chose to make this cuff using a metal cuff blank. So, the pattern instructions will teach you how to create and bead a shape to fit any cuff blank. However, you can also choose to make this into a bracelet with a clasp. You simply need to cut a piece of fabric to fit your wrist size. Then attach your chosen clasp at the end. You can find more information about choosing and working with clasps here.

You will need to get the Paris Cabochon from Dizzy Beads. This link should take you to the right page. The pattern tutorial also includes the link.

As I mentioned, I added some heart shaped beads to my Paris Bead Embroidery cuff design. These are widely available in bead and craft shops. The pattern will tell you the size I used, but you can adapt this. So, you could swap in a different size of heart, a different colour, or leave the hearts out of your design.

Lastly, you will need some 4mm pearls and seed beads in size 11 and 8. Plus bead embroidery fabric (eg Stiff Stuff) and backing (eg Suede). If you have trouble getting any of these items, check my beading supplies on here.

What experience do I need?

If you are happy using a needle and thread, then you have all the experience that you need for this project. Bead embroidery techniques are really simple to learn. If you have a background in sewing, you may even know some of these techniques already.

The pattern instructions give you really detailed written instructions. These are accompanied by clear photos to show each step. I have explained everything with some helpful tips as you go. So, you should find this very easy to follow.
