About the Superduo Spiral Bracelet

I created this Superduo Spiral bracelet design originally as a project in Bead and Jewellery Magazine, using Twin Hole beads and size 11 Delicas. The design actually featured on the cover of Issue 68 of the magazine.

A short while later I was invited to do my first show as a guest designer on Jewellery Maker TV. This was the seed bead launch day. So, in addition to the kits that I had been sent for the show, I used some of the other seed beads that Jewellery Maker are stocking in order to create a couple of extra designs.

Tips and Details

One of my first thoughts was to see how the True2 beads would work in place of the delicas in this Superduo Spiral bracelet. I found that the design worked just as well. But I had to make some bead count modifications in order to make it sit correctly. So, I have decided to include both these variations as two patterns for the price of one.

You can see in the photos the design with the True2 beads and the design with the Delicas. Unusually for a design with Superduos, I found that the Superduo Spiral bracelet works just as well if you use Twin Hole beads instead of the Superduos. If you are wondering what the difference is, then this blog will help you.

I made a beaded clasp, using Peyote stitch, for both bracelets. However,  as with the main bracelet, I found that the True2 beads needed me to make a lot of variations in the clasp. If you prefer, you can finish your Superduo Spiral Bracelet with a shop-bought clasp. You can find plenty of lovely ideas at Jewellery Maker.

The main bracelet design uses a basic technique called Spiral Staircase, which is very easy. However, the two holes of the Superduos mean you will be performing a slightly trickier technique as you add the embellishment to accentuate the spiral. So I have suggested that the Superduo Spiral bracelet is suitable for beaders with a bit of experience.
