Experience and Techniques
The flower meadow necklace is made in sections. So, you will be creating Cubic Right Angle Weave pieces, then stringing the shaped seed beads.
I have assumed that you are already familiar with basic CRAW. If this is not the case, then you should also download my free CRAW tutorial, which you can find here>>
I have also included an introduction to explain how to use the two-holed beads featured in this necklace. They are all simple to use. Since you will just be stringing them here, this is a great project to try them out.
So, this pattern is for anyone who enjoys working in basic CRAW.
About the Flower Meadow Necklace
We have all become used to using Carrier Beads as a base for Peyote stitch designs. But these glass carrier beads are simply gorgeous in their own right. They make great spacers. So, I wanted to try a design that would show them off and use them a little differently.
I was also experimenting with some of the newer two-holed seed beads – Nib-Bits and Paisley Duos. Again, these make great accents in a design.
So, in fact, my flower meadow necklace really evolved. I began by trialling a motif. Then extended this to create the necklace. Finally, I found myself needing a clasp that would tie everything together. So, the floral section at the centre front cleverly disguises a magnetic clasp. Of course, you can also wear the clasp at the back of the neck if you wish.
The shape and style of the flower meadow necklace is designed to sit at choker length. So, I also included instructions to help you alter the length if you need to.
The yellow and green colour scheme I have used is perfect for summer. But this design would look stunning in any colours. So, maybe you take your scheme from the carrier beads? Or maybe start by choosing your Paisley Duos and Nib-Bits? Either way, this is a fun necklace to make. So, enjoy!
