My book, ‘Sweet Treats: A collection of designs for beaded jewellery and gifts that will make your mouth water!’, was published on 1st November 2012. Sweet Treats is my first self published book under my own publishing label, Tregellas Publishing.
The book features 15 designs to make a range of Sweet Treats. These include: Twinkies & Suzy Qs, Battenburg Cake, Swiss Roll, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Donuts, Victoria Sponge, Chocolate Eclairs, Blackforest Gateau, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Jam Tarts, Bakewell Tarts, Cupcakes, Simnel Cake, Fondant Fancies and Gingerbread Men.
Each design gives ideas and instructions for multiple projects. These include necklaces, bracelets, earrings, key rings, fridge magnets and ornaments.
Sweet Treats is A4 in size, with 104 pages in full colour. Each design is accompanied with beautiful colour photographs and diagrams to illustrate the beading techniques.
Techniques include Peyote stitch and Brick stitch. The book assumes knowledge of these stitches. However, it does include an introductory section covering a basic guide to beading and to the stitches used in the book. You will also learn about the materials you need for the projects. So, if you are quite new to beading, all this information will help.
The Story Behind Sweet Treats
Sweet Treats will always be very special to me. It began as a development of the miniature beaded cakes I had started designing in 2009. Along the way I began asking friends for suggestions for cakes that they would like to see made in beads.
Each cake includes its own story. So, sometimes this is a history of its development. Or, maybe a special association with a particular friend. I designed Sweet Treats in the style of a recipe book. So, each project has a list of beaded ingredients and mouth-watering photos to tempt you to make these fun designs.
