National Craft Month Challenge – part 3

Share

Well, I hope you’ve all been waiting with baited breath for the next instalment(s) of the challenge…?! I’m just starting on a really busy teaching schedule, which is lovely as I love the teaching. The Hobbycraft course got off to a very good start yesterday and I’m looking forward to spending the next 3 Thursday mornings with the lovely group of ladies who have signed up. Tomorrow I’m teaching my Gifts Galore bracelet for the first time, so that’s going to be exciting and I’m also now putting together all the materials ready to take to the Beadworker’s Guild Workshop on 22nd March in London, so I’m busy, busy…

…but back to the important stuff. As I promised you all the challenges in the first week in March, I’m going to throw the last three in here together. If you’ve missed the first four, then they can be found here, here…and here

Challenge 5 is to make a beaded clasp. If you’re stumped by this challenge, then I, luckily, have the prefect solution for you…a whole book about beaded clasps, so enjoy this one!

Challenge 6 is to make some chain. Now this is a nice broad challenge: if you like wirework, then perhaps it’s an excuse to try a new chain maille technique. If you prefer bead-weaving, then the world is your oyster…think anything from basic spirals to peyote tubes, or perhaps you’d like to try your hand at a fancy twinhole herringbone chain. Or, if you’re feeling braver still, how about a bit of Cubic Right Angle Weave?

Finally, we get on to lucky 7…so this challenge is quite simple: make a piece of jewellery using as many or as few of the other 6 challenges and then send me some photos along with the story behind your jewellery. I’m going to create a special section in the gallery for all the entries and you get to sit back and admire all the lovely work. It can be as simple or as complex as you like, it’s just an excuse to have some fun and create something to celebrate National Craft Month, so please join in…I don’t want an empty gallery! Thank you and have fun…

  1. i am on a good way to catch up with the challenges :), but on the beaded clasp i am stuck now, i hope to get a Chance at the Weekend again.

    1. I’m so glad you are doing so many challenges! Can’t wait to see the work that you create!

  2. i noticed yesterday the challenge nr 7 and had a giggle, because it would look funny if i weave/put all the things together i made for the challenge so far, could look charming or could look strange.
Both ways good fun and idea :))
will see how it works out and what i will use together 🙂

    have fun everybody
