This pattern teaches you how to make a Superduo flower. You can join these into jewellery, or use them for embellishment. So, let me tell you a little more about the pattern.

You only need basic seed beads for this project. Each flower requires just a handful of each type of bead. So, this is a great stash-busting project.

  • Superduos
  • Size 11 Miyuki seed beads
  • Size 15 seed beads
  • Your choice of beading thread

You can check the beading supplies department for all these materials. But chances are, you already have them in your stash!

Experience and Techniques

The Superduo flower is an intermediate level project. However, if you are just starting out and you’re feeling adventurous and feel happy following instructions, then give this a try.

The techniques are basically just stringing. This is often the case for projects that use the shaped seed beads. There are a couple of slightly fiddly spots, but nothing complex or technically difficult.

Each flower measures about 1″ (2.5cm) across. It will take you about half an hour – maybe less – to make a flower. So, what could you do with them?

How to use a Superduo Flower…

Well, really you can use these flowers any way you like. So, it’s up to your imagination!

I know they will string really well to make a necklace or bracelet. You can simply link the seed beads on the end of each petal tip. So, if you want a shaped necklace, that’s easy to do because you are working with five petals. The greater challenge is linking them in a straight line. How might you do that?

Then, these flowers are also great for embellishment. So, possibly, you could incorporate them into some bead embroidery, or use them to stitch onto clothes or accessories.

I used a superduo flower as a drawer handle on my Beehive beaded box. So, adding them to embellish boxes or other beadwork is another idea to try.

If you have some great ideas, please share them here too.
