For my square Superduo beaded box, I simply wanted to try a new shape. So many people have been loving my original Superduo box (as have I!), that I thought it might be nice to give them some choice.

To be honest, I am quite addicted to making these! The colour choices are endless, but I was getting a little tired of making the same shape all the time. So, I thought it would be good to keep the appeal (easy beads to use, quick to make, and looks good!), but try a new shape. Hence, we now have the square box. But more on that a little later…

Materials

You can probably guess at – or see – the majority of materials. So, yes, this square superduo beaded box uses mostly Superduos! You will want to choose two colours. You’re going to need about 30g in each colour.

Then, in addition, you need 8 Trinity Beads and 2g of size 8 seed beads.

You will also need a beading thread that allows you to get good tension. For me, this is Fireline – 6lb or 4lb will be fine. But you might have another preference.

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be working in Peyote stitch. This in fact, uses the same techniques as my original box. So, if you have already made some of those boxes, you’re going to find this beautifully straightforward.

If you are new to this, it will help if you have used Superduos before. But I have also linked to some videos you can use to help you.

So, this is suitable for intermediate – or a keen beginner if you are good at following instructions and able to problem solve on your own.

About the Square Superduo Beaded Box

Again you’ve probably realised this is a square box! Or, at least, as square as it’s possible to get with Superduos!

I have used a hinged lid for this design.

The finished size is about: 3″ base to top, 2″ wide, 2″ deep.

The tutorial is a downloadable PDF with 11 pages of detailed instructions, photos and diagrams. I have also included information about the bead colours I used, where to buy supplies and some additional tips.

You can complete this project in under 3 hours.
