This carrier beads beaded box is fairly quick to make. It measures just under 2″ in each direction.

Materials

You will need the following materials for your carrier beads beaded box:

  • Size 11 delicas – about 14g in total
  • 10 Carrier beads
  • Your choice of beading thread

This is a great pattern for experimenting with colour and using up some beads from your stash. I happened to have ten carrier beads in a single colour. I decided to have a play with the Pantone colour for 2019. So, I paired this gorgeous orangey-pink shade with the gunmetal carrier beads and matching delicas.

However, you can use a different pairing. Or try different colouring altogether. If you have odd carrier beads to use up, then why not use a different colour(s) on each side. Just pair these with a neutral colour of Delicas, so the colour statement will be in the carrier beads.

I’m sure you will have lots of ideas of you own. So, I look forward to hearing what you do with the beads too!

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be mixing two basic techniques in your carrier beads beaded box. First, some Peyote stitch. So, you will need to feel comfortable working in circular and tubular Peyote and making increases and decreases.

Then, you will also use a little basic Right Angle Weave. I have assumed you know how to work in this technique.

But don’t worry – if any of those techniques are new to you, I have free tutorials you can download here>>

So, I recommend this pattern for intermediate to advanced beaders. I have included nine pages of detailed instructions, with lots of photos and diagrams.

About the carrier beads beaded box

Now, this idea occurred to me a little while ago. I had some part-used strands of carrier beads. So, I wondered what would happen if I used them for the sides and lid of a beaded box.

Well, here’s the answer!

This is a great stash-busting project and it gives you something new to try with carrier beads. So, I hope you enjoy it!
