The spiralling ribbons necklace is perfect if you like to try some beadwork spiral techniques.

Materials

You will need the following materials for the spiralling ribbons necklace:

  • Size 15 Delicas
  • Size 11 Delicas
  • 1.8mm Cube Beads
  • Your choice of beading thread

The necklace uses a beaded clasp, incorporated in the design.

Techniques and Experience

This pattern contains 4 pages of instructions with diagrams to create this 17″ necklace. The project uses tubular and even count Peyote stitch.

You will learn how to move from one technique to the other in order to create alternating sections of spiral tube and spiralling strips.

The necklace is fastened with a variation of a toggle clasp, seamlessly incorporating the necklace pattern. So, this means you can adjust the necklace length very easily.

The spiralling ribbons necklace pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced beaders and will take a few hours to complete.

About the Spiralling Ribbons Necklace

I simply love the 1.8mm cube beads. They are small enough to work like little seed beads. Yet, their cube shape gives a lovely tactile feel to beading designs.

So, I began experimenting to see how they would combine with other sizes of beads. I ended up with some gorgeous spirals of beaded ribbon.

This led me to think about trying some Cellini spiral. So, I then wanted to combine the two. It’s actually really easy to do. So, this pattern will show you how. This is an idea that you can then use in other beaded ropes. So, you get texture and interest by ‘deconstructing’ the rope into its basic colours.

I chose to use three bright colours for this design. You might prefer something less bold. So, you could choose three shades of the same colour. Or, perhaps try a more muted palette. If you want some ideas for choosing colour schemes, then check out this blog.
