This snowflake Peyote beaded star is a little unusual in that it has six points, not five. So, I will explain more about that in a moment. First let me tell you what you need to make this…

Materials

You will be working with size 11 Delica beads, in two colours. Or, you can use TOHO AIKO beads if you prefer.

In the tutorial, I have listed the exact colours that I used, but you are also free to choose your own if you wish. So, it is very possible that you already have the beads you need.

You will also need your favourite beading thread. I have made these using Fireline, and also using Dragon Thread and Durathread. So, any thread should work fine. If you want a little more information about different thread types, you can follow this link.

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be working in Peyote stitch, making warped squares and joining them to form your star. So, this is basically the same technique as for the more common five-pointed stars. (You can see some examples of those at this link).

In the tutorial, I have also included a link to a (free) online class that shows you how to make Peyote stars, so you can use that if you have any trouble following the pattern.

About the snowflake Peyote beaded star pattern

My inspiration for this design came from the idea of snowflakes and the many forms that they take. Naturally, they are six-sided. So, I felt it would not have been correct to add this design to a five-pointed star. Hence, the need for six points!

Your finished star is just over 2″ (5cm) in diameter. So, it will make a cute decoration, or you could wear it as a pendant. It is also pretty quick to make – you can finish one in an afternoon if you are a reasonably fast beader.

I have included FOUR different snowflake designs within this one single pattern. Each design has a word chart as well as a pattern chart, so it should be lovely and easy for you to follow.

And this pattern is also available in my Etsy store if you prefer to buy from there.

You will also see from the gallery images that this design can be turned into a tea light decoration. So, if that is something you would like to try, please follow this link.
