About the Peyote Texture Bejewelled Bracelet

I designed this Peyote texture bracelet with beginners in mind. I wanted to create something that had some interest, but was worked with large seed beads. This is perfect for beginners as the larger beads will help you to learn the technique.

You will make the bracelet in Peyote stitch, using its easiest form: even count. Create the Peyote texture (and jewelled effect) by mixing two different sizes of beads. Some might argue that this makes life difficult for beginners as the success of the design will depend on your ability to get a good tension. However, I would say that this is actually a great way of practising tension. So you get into good habits from the beginning.

If you are starting out and need a few tips, this blog post gives some really handy advice about basic bead-weaving. You can find plenty more beading advice, notes on colour choices and information about the materials here.

About the pattern

The Peyote Texture Bejewelled bracelet pattern gives very detailed instructions, over 8 pages. It includes clear step-by-step diagrams and photos to accompany the written instructions.

You will have the opportunity to try out a very simple Peyote stitch pattern, which should give you confidence to move on to stitching other projects using Peyote stitch. The large bead sizes will really help you to understand the Peyote thread path.

I have designed the pattern so that you can first become accustomed to the stitch before you start to add the different coloured beads. So, in this way, you are guided gradually through, learning more as you progress naturally. Peyote stitch is such a versatile technique and a real favourite of mine.

Once you have mastered the Peyote Texture bracelet, you will be able to move on to try other variations. You can find more ideas in the Peyote patterns section on this website.
