Mr Whippy Pendant Pattern

This is one of the earliest patterns I designed. I had recently learned tubular Peyote and was experimenting with a tubular version of Cellini spiral. Somehow this involved into a Mr Whippy ice cream cone which proved to be the perfect size to wear as a pendant. It measures about 2″ in length and is very lightweight to wear. The structure of the beading stitch gives a fairly solid ice cream cone. But I prefer to stuff this design with a little tissue to give it some support.

The ice cream cone has very nostalgic connections for a lot of British people. Mr Whippy was a particular brand popular for the beautifully swirled vanilla ice cream. The chocolate flake is usually sold as an optional extra, but at only a few pence, who would say no to this? It brings back memories of shivering on a beach in the slightly chilly and damp British summer. Nonetheless, the British spirit dictates that we will not be discouraged by the poor weather. Beach holidays require ice cream, even if you are shivering as you eat it!

This pattern is fairly simple to follow. I would recommend that you feel comfortable with tubular peyote, and possibly have some experience of Cellini spiral before you try this Mr Whippy pendant project.
