Have you ever made a herringbone waves pattern before? This is a wavy line incorporated into a tube. So, in this project you will be creating the wave with colours. But you can also create the same effect using different sizes of seed beads.

Let me tell you more about what you will need.

Materials

You will be working with size 8 seed beads, in three colours.

I have chosen these slightly larger beads to help you get used to the thread paths. They also create a lovely size of beaded rope. But of course you can try this with any seed beads.

I have included a beaded clasp in the instructions. However, if you prefer to use a metal clasp, you can.

In addition to the beads, you will also need your favourite beading thread.

You can have a lot of fun experimenting with different colour combinations and this is a fairly quick design to make.

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be working in the spiral variation of tubular Herringbone. So, I recommend that you already know a little of both techniques. If you don’t, it’s no problem. The PDF tutorial links to this online class which demonstrates everything on video.

I suggest this is an intermediate level project, purely because you may want to have prior experience of tubular Herringbone. But there is nothing to stop you from learning this as a beginner. And, of course, as an advanced beader, this will just be a fun, quick make.

If you are new to herringbone, then try this project first.

About the herringbone waves pattern

You are going to create this herringbone wave effect simply through your thread path. So, I have taught this in detail, including diagrams and written instructions to explain everything.

You can make a rope of any length. So, this could also be made as a bracelet. Or, you can extend the necklace to whatever length you wish.

It is a fun project with a lot of different options to enjoy.
