Coconut Ice Beaded Bead
This pattern originally featured in Bead Magazine in 2013. It shows you how to make coconut ice beaded beads.
I made a second variation, based on liquorice allsorts, and combined the two varieties with some jelly bean beads to create a bracelet. I used a magnetic clasp to fasten the bracelet. Then, concealed the clasp beneath a beaded bead.
Full instructions for both the beaded beads and the complete bracelet are included. This project requires size 11 delicas and uses circular and tubular peyote stitch. It is suitable for intermediate beaders. Although if you are an adventurous beginner, you should definitely give this a try!
The coconut ice came about as a commission for a fun themed issue of the magazine. At the time I created this design, I had been working on Sweet Treats book and I was still developing different food-based beading patterns.

Either way, you will discover that the combination of peyote stitch and delicas creates a structure that is strong enough to keep its shape without needing something to fill it. This quality makes the beaded beads possible. You will, however, need to ensure you keep good tension as you work in order to get this structure just right.
