Officially my first beaded box pattern for 2021. Although I actually made this chocolate bar beaded box at the end of 2020. I’m just launching it now to tie in with the Beadflowers chocolate factory event this month. So, let me tell you more about the project.

Materials

You will just need size 11/0 delicas for this beading project.

I’ve given you the exact colour codes that I used. But of course, you are free to change things up a bit. If you’re not a fan of dark chocolate, then maybe you would like to use DB709 to make a milk chocolate bar. Or, try DB203 for a white chocolate bar.

You can go as fancy as you want with the wrapper.

You will also need your favourite beading thread. This needs to be something that will enable you to get good tension. So, I have recommended Fireline. You may need more than one colour, to tone with your chocolate bar and with your wrapper.

Experience and Techniques

This is a Peyote stitch project. You will be working in circular and tubular Peyote.

As you may have guessed, this is also a very advanced beading project. I will be asking you to work out things on your own. You will need to do a little bit of freeform in places. Plus, I have created the structure and shaping by making individual components and joining them together. So, all of that can seem a little daunting if you’re not experienced.

But, I have also linked to free tutorials, online classes and other places that will give you extra help with any techniques that are new to you. And, if you get this and discover it’s too challenging at present, just put it to one side, improve your skills and come back to it again later.

About the chocolate bar beaded box pattern

If you want to get a little more of a sense of this project, then I did create a minute-long film to show it in 3D. So, you can find that here on my YouTube channel.

This chocolate bar is about 4″ long and 2″ wide. The storage space extends the full length and width inside, but is quite shallow. In the video, you’ll see I have stored a 10g packet of delica beads in here. It would also be a great place for keeping your beading needles. Or, if you’re giving as a gift, it’s perfect to fit in a folded banknote or gift card.

As you can see in the video, the chocolate bar slides in and out of the wrapper to reveal the storage space inside. And, if you pop over to the chocolate factory page, you can find out a little about the special properties of this beaded chocolate. (Just check out the entry on 7th January!)
