I have designed this beginner Cellini spiral necklace pattern to overcome the most common difficulties people face when they start learning Cellini spiral. Obviously you can create this in any colour combination. So, let me tell you a little more about the project.

Materials

For this necklace, you will need seed beads in sizes 11, 8 and 6. So, you might already have these in your bead stash.

You are also going to need some beading thread that will give you good tension. Cellini spiral is all about getting the tension right. So, my personal recommendation is Fireline in either 4lb or 6lb. But if you have another preference that works for you, then use that.

I have designed a beaded clasp for this necklace. So, you can follow that design. Or, if you prefer to use a metal clasp, that’s no problem. The tutorial also shows you how to attach that.

Experience and Techniques

Cellini spiral is basically a specialist form of tubular Peyote stitch. So, as long as you understand how to work in tubular Peyote, you have the skills to try Cellini spiral.

In fact, in this design, I have started you off with a basic tubular structure. This makes it a lot easier to begin adding in the different beads required to create your spiral.

I have included a simple beaded clasp that uses a little odd count Peyote. But if you don’t feel comfortable with that, you can just use a metal clasp.

This pattern is supported with online video demonstrations to show you all the techniques. You can find them here in this online class if you need them.

About the beginner Cellini spiral necklace

I have taught Cellini spiral many times over the years. This experience has shown me which areas most people struggle with when they begin learning this technique. So, I have created this design specifically to help overcome those initial problems.

This project will ease you into Cellini spiral gently. You can make the full necklace and adjust it to any length. Or, you can also create this as a bracelet.

It is also a project that invites you to choose your own colours. I have included my colour choices, but you may want to try something different. If you don’t feel comfortable choosing your own colours, then this online class will really help you.
