I have now made a beaded stable for Nativity. It is sized to fit my Nativity characters, as you can see in the photos.

Now, I have had a few requests for this from people who already have the Nativity characters. But, as you can probably imagine, this has been a pretty mammoth project to complete. So, what you’re buying here is not a traditional step-by-step tutorial. Instead, I have written a guide to assist you in completing your own stable.

So, let me explain that…

Materials

You are going to be using size 8/0 seed beads throughout this project. My stable took over 600g of beads. So, that’s a pretty large quantity!

However, as you’ll see when I come on to the techniques, you don’t have to use top quality beads for this. So, I would recommend looking for a supplier who sells 100g bags. It is a good idea to keep to the same brand of beads (read this post to find out why). But, you don’t have to pick an expensive brand.

You will also need a beading thread that will give you excellent tension. I chose to use Fireline.

The tutorial also includes detailed instructions for the ox inside the stable. This is made with size 10/0 delicas. But it’s also optional, so you can leave out the ox if you wish.

Experience and Techniques

This is a VERY advanced beading project.

You need to be an expert in Peyote stitch and Cubic Right Angle Weave.

About the Beaded Stable for Nativity Guide

If you decide to buy this, you are going to get 26 pages in a PDF format.

I have split this into two sections. The first 10 pages give you detailed step-by-step instructions for making the Ox to sit inside the stable. He is designed to fit in the stable, so won’t work as a ‘standalone’ character.

The second section is a guide to making a stable. So, I have given you bead colours and quantities. I have included a lot of step-by-step photos. And I have described the techniques that I used. I have also outlined the way in which my structure took shape.

But you need to have very advanced skills to follow this. Not just the beading skills, but also common sense, creativity and an ability to figure things out and problem solve.

I am not able to give extra help with this. You don’t have to create exactly what I created. You just need to use your own sense to create your own stable, with some guidance from this PDF.

My finished stable is 8″ long, 5″ deep and 5″ high, and it is completely self-supporting…just beads and thread!
