You are going to be working with size 11/0 delicas to make this Art Deco beaded box. It is a project that you can complete in a weekend, and makes a great little gift box. The finished size is about 1.5″ square.

Materials

You will be working entirely with size 11 Delicas for the box base. I wanted to create a little ornamentation on the lid. So, I used an 18mm cabochon. You will also need some size 15 Delicas or seed beads to bezel around the cabochon.

I have included details of the exact bead colours that I used for my box. But you can also create this in a colour scheme of your own choice. That may sound like a very frightening prospect, but it’s actually easier than you imagine. I have taught you exactly how to come up with your own colour scheme in this online class. So, that gives you easy steps to follow to make sure you create something that will really work.

You will also need your favourite beading thread. My personal choice is Fireline, but please use whatever works best for you.

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be working in Peyote stitch to make this art deco beaded box. I have assumed you already know the basics of the technique. However, I also include links to some extra free tutorials and online classes. So, if there are techniques that you need to learn – or revise – you can use those links to help.

The pattern gives you both a word chart and a pattern chart for the box sides.

This is suitable for intermediate to advanced beaders.

About the Art Deco Beaded Box

I love the symmetry of Art Deco. It is very geometric, can be colourful, and lends itself well to decoration for a beaded box. So, that inspired me to create this design.

This is also a wonderful vehicle for experimenting with different bead colour combinations. The box is fairly quick to make (depending on your beading speed, and how comfortable you are with following word charts). So, you can wow your friends with this design.
