This pearl flower earrings pattern is suitable for all levels. These earrings are lovely and quick to make.

The pearl flowers combine 10mm pearls, 4mm pearls and size 11 delicas, using a tiny bit of basic peyote stitch. The thread path is simple, but just one word of warning… If you’re very new to beading, these delica beads can seem rather small!

You will, of course, need to use some earring findings. I chose simple ear wires, but this design can work with any type of finding. So you can go with your favourite.

If you are making earrings for yourself, then you will be aware of any allergies that you may have. If you are making these pearl flower earrings as a gift, then I recommend using sterling silver or pure gold ear wires just to be sure you won’t be causing allergy problems for the wearer!

About the Pearl Flower earrings

I designed the pearl flower earrings to match my floral pearl necklace. The pattern for this necklace can be found here.

I had a lot of fun playing around with colouring for these patterns. Pearls now come in a huge range of colours, albeit mostly painted!

You can play with the colouring for the pearl flowers to make the centre stand out, as in the photo, or to bring the focus back to the petals. When you are choosing colours, just remember that the eye is drawn first to the colour with the lowest value. It will appear lighter and brighter than its neighbours.

For my designs I used silver Delicas so that they would allow the pearls to stand out. However, you could try making flowers with very subtle coloured pearls and much brighter colour delicas. This would give the impression of petals with coloured tips. So, there is a lot to play with in even this simple design.

The original design concept came from a combined love of flowers and of the elegance of pearls. So there is really little that is more feminine than pearl flowers! I hope you enjoy making these earrings as much as I did.
