Techniques and Experience

This pattern contains 7 pages of detailed instructions, with diagrams and photos, to teach you how to make this necklace.

The pendant section is made with Right Angle Weave. I then show you how to add a simple embellishment. Lastly, add the necklace chain using a basic spiral stitch.

I have included instructions for two different variations (shown). They both use the same techniques, but slightly different materials.

This is a great pattern for learning Right Angle Weave and spiral stitch. Suitable for beginners and upwards. So, you don’t need to have any previous experience. If you do feel like you need some additional help with the basics, then I have free tutorials you can download. You might also enjoy reading this blog.

About the Embellished Right Angle Weave Necklace

I created this design purely as a teaching aid. I wanted to do a class on basic Right Angle Weave. However, at risk of that becoming tedious, I decided to spice things up a little!

So, I am a big fan of encouraging people to discover that you don’t need complex techniques to create a stunning design. This really could not be simpler!

In the interests of saving time, I even added a ‘cheat’ to the necklace. I love making beaded ropes, but they can take a few hours. So, if you’re in a rush – maybe needing a last-minute gift – it can be good to have a short cut. In this design, I used a length of chain for this purpose.

So, instead of making the full spiral stitch rope, I just added a short section and then completed the necklace with a chain and clasp. Really simple!

I hope that this pattern won’t just teach you some great basic beading techniques. You should also learn a couple of design concepts that you can take on and use elsewhere.
