About the Bow Christmas Tree Decoration

When I first saw Trinity beads, it occurred to me that they would be great for making a really quick Cabochon casing for a Rivoli.

With this idea in mind, I began thinking about how to use the encased Rivoli. Pendants were an obvious choice, but I started to envisage a bow with the Rivoli forming the sparkling centre. So my Bow Christmas Tree Decoration was born.

Having set the precedent of a fast casing for the Rivoli, I also wanted to work the sides of the bow quickly. So Superduos seemed like a natural choice. I knew they looked great in Peyote stitch and would be quick to take shape. Why this need for speed you ask? Well, when it comes to Christmas projects, you quite often want to make more than one, in fact maybe quite a large number. So you can make a lot of Bow Christmas Tree Decorations in a fairly short space of time… Especially once you become familiar with the pattern!

The bow Christmas tree decoration requires less than one pack of Trinity beads and one tube of Superduos, plus only a few size 15s. So, in another critical consideration, this is not an expensive project to make.

If you are trying to keep your materials cost down, then you can always use a Chinese rivoli instead of going for Swarovski.

I decided to keep to a single colour for my bow Christmas Tree decoration. But you could have a lot of fun mixing up different colour combinations to give the effect of patterned ribbon. I can see a whole range of different coloured bows would look stunning adorning your Christmas tree.

If you feel it isn’t quite right on your tree, then the bow also makes a pretty ornament sat on a mantelpiece or decorating your festive dinner table. You could even forget Christmas altogether and make pretty bows in pastel colours for a wedding or any other occasion.
