French Beaded Rose in Miniature

I developed this French beaded rose pattern after I had created my original full-sized rose. That pattern is only available in my ebook, ‘Bead Flowers and Wedding Bouquets‘.

I had been making flowers for a wedding and had made some buttonholes using the full-sized rose. I needed to make a complementary corsage and I had in mind a design that used several roses.

If any of you has made my full-sized French beaded rose, or seen the bouquet that uses them, then you will know how heavy it is. It would not have been possible to use several full-sized roses in a corsage. So, I decided to make a miniature version. Thus, the miniature French beaded rose was born! You can actually find the corsage I made in my second French beading ebook, ‘Bead Flowers and Corsages.’

The miniature French beaded rose is useful for all kinds of projects. I have since used them to stitch onto bead embroidery, made miniature arrangements. I have even thought of making a complete miniature rose bush (I used to have a beautiful little pink one of these in the rockery in my parents’ garden!).

Helpful Information

The project is similar to the full-sized rose. So, I have referred to the ebook with that pattern in this tutorial. You may find it helpful to have a copy of the ebook to reference.

You will be using size 11 seed beads. Unusually for me, this project uses only 28ga (0.315mm) wire. So, don’t be tempted to try it with the thicker wire! You can buy all the materials from me in the beading supplies department. So, make sure you check it out!

The pattern assumes you are familiar with the basic technique and with the loop techniques. Both of these can be found in the ebook, with video demonstrations. You can also download a free tutorial with the technique reminders – just check my free tutorials section.
