This French beaded Christmas rose pattern makes a miniature version of the popular plant. You might also know it as Hellebore – it’s Latin name.
You will need the following for your French beaded Christmas rose:
- Size 11 seed beads in flower colour, yellow and green
- 24ga (0.5mm) wire
- 28ga (0.315mm) wire
- Floral stem tape
- Embroidery silk
You can find all these materials in my beading supplies department.
As with any French beading project, you will also need a bead spinner and some wire cutters.
Christmas roses come in a variety of colours. I chose to make mine in a traditional white. But you will also find them in shades of pale pink and variegated white and pink. So, you can choose bead colours to reflect your favourite colouring.
If you need some inspiration, check your local garden centre or do a google image search.
Experience and Techniques
This is an intermediate level project. You will be using the basic technique and two of the loop techniques for your French beaded Christmas rose. I have assumed you are already familiar with these techniques.
If you are learning and developing your skills, then you will also enjoy my two French beading ebooks. These include video demonstrations of all the techniques, plus beautiful flowers that aren’t available anywhere else.
For the more basic techniques, try my first book, ‘Bead Flowers and Wedding Bouquets’. Then, to grow your skills, move on to ‘Beaded Wedding Flowers and Corsages’, which you can find here>>
About the French Beaded Christmas Rose
This beading pattern shows you how to make the complete plant. You will need a little flower pot and some oasis to plant it. My flower pot has a diameter of about 4″ (10cm). So, this really is a miniature version of the flower. It’s the perfect centrepiece to a Christmas table. Or maybe a cute decoration for your window sill.
The pattern gives you comprehensive instructions with photos to illustrate all the steps. So, I hope you enjoy it.
