Ultimate beaded Angel pattern

I designed this Beaded Angel pattern after a request from a customer.

I wanted to try and incorporate bugle beads into the design as these are a shape that I don’t often use. They seemed perfect for making the skirt on my beaded angel. They worked up quickly. Plus I could create a stable base on which the angel could stand.

I made my first beaded angel in white, but then discovered I also had some gold bugle beads. So, I decided to combine these with red seed beads to create a really festive angel. This colouring actually reminds me of the costumes used for the angels in my favourite production of the Nutcracker ballet!

My two sets of bugle beads were actually different lengths. So I was pleased to verify that this pattern works well in both sizes.

Techniques and Materials

The beaded angel pattern is suitable for intermediate level beaders. This pattern provides six pages of instructions and diagrams.

The Angel is about 2.5″ high. You can hang it on a Christmas tree or use it as a free-standing decoration.

The project combines Right Angle Weave and Peyote stitch. Although the instructions assume knowledge of both techniques, I have free tutorials if you need them.

The beaded Angel pattern requires about 7g of size 11 seed beads, 1g of size 15 seed beads and about 2g of bugle beads in either 6mm or 9mm. It is suitable for anyone with a knowledge of the techniques listed and can be made in a variety of colours. I hope it will make a cute addition to your Christmas tree!

If you are a fan of festive beading, then I have a lot more projects in my Beaded Christmas books. I also have more patterns available on here for different decorations.

I aim to add some more festive patterns each year. You will be pleased to hear that I still have a lot of ideas to explore. I think it is lovely to personalise your home with handcrafted decorations. They also make great gifts for friends!

Beautiful angel decorations when finished and a good size. The combination of pictures and text made the pattern easy to follow. Love them.

The pattern is well written and illustrated making it easy to follow. I plan to make each grandchild one for next year’s gift for their tree.
